CANTERBURY SQUASH CLUB - TOURNAMENT REPORT 2003 /2004

The early rounds of the handicap competition were played during the season starting in November. The junior, men’s veterans, and vintage competitions were started later. The early rounds of the Rabbits, Intermediate, and Top Men’s competitions were played between Friday 23rd and Monday 26^th April.

All the other finals, took place on Finals Night, Wednesday 28^th April 2004. Nine finals were played during this evening. Nic Wallder beat Joe Hewson 9/2 10/8 9/1 in the Under 15 Boys’ competition. Nic Wallder beat Jaimie Whittington 8/9 9/7 6/9 9/6 10/8 in the final of the Under 19 Boys’.

The Men’ Vintage final was won by Frank Hixson who beat Malcolm Cooper 9/6 9/3 9/6.

The Ladies Handicap competition was won by Katie Dartford by beating Elizabeth Salter 15/4 15/7 15/14.

There was no Ladies Veteran’s final due to lack of entries.

The Rabbits Tankard competition was open to those in division 15 and below of the league at the time of entry. The final was won by Darren Lynch by beating Ryan Broadbridge 9/2 9/6 9/2.

The Club Handicap tournament started in November with 56 entries and was played over several rounds with play-by dates. In the final, Tom May played Joe Magor with a starting score of - 4, 0. Joe won 15/14 15/2 15/10.

The Men’s Veterans competition was won by Joe Lockyer on a walkover due to Steve Brown being injured.

The final of the Intermediate Cup was between Paul Kikano and Matt Beattie. Matt won 6/9 9/3 9/6 5/9 9/2.

The final of the Mens Top 32 was contested between Sean Wardman and Andy Gaging. Sean won comfortably 9/0 10/8 9/3 to claim his first men's club championship.
